Eric : Strength needs no religion-it is a religion unto itself. Might is right. There is no place in this world for weakness". He then almost rapes her! Later, as the city burns around them and is literally crumbling to the ground, Stroheim tries to rape her again as children scream all around them. He even throws a screaming child to it's doom!  Excellent.

K621 Mercy Point (98) Obscure sci-fi series starring Joe Morton cancelled after only 8 episodes.  All 8 episodes on one disc with full menus available on DVD-R only, no VHS on this title. Mercy Point is an interstellar space trauma center covering a vast area of the cosmos. In the initial episode an alien life form that incubates inside human beings has to be removed to save the lives of both creatures. Sticky, gooey, gory FX with neat creatures that are not C.G.I.! Fun gross out factor with high production values and decent acting makes one wonder why this series did not take off!  Recommended!

S723 Million Eyes of Sumuru, The (67)  Frankie Avalon and George Nader play a couple of wise-cracking, swingin' secret agents. Their enemy Sumuru is is played by Golden Bond Girl Shirley Eaton. She plans to replace all men on earth in power with her army of women, most of who not only are shown in skimpy bikinis or mini-skirts, but also have the ability to break a man's neck with their thighs. Sedikh builds his own spacecraft, and accompanied by a female astronaut and a boy, he embarks on a the first human trip to the moon.... With English Subtitles 

K629 Three Wishes For Cinderella (73) aka: Tri orísky pro Popelku   Cinderella meets a prince in the woods... she disguises herself as a boy and has a shooting-competition with him, then she runs away...  The prince does not want to get married, but his parents force him to throw a ball where all single rich girls nearby are invited, but of course Cinderella doesn’t get to go to the ball because she has to clean up a mess her mother and step sisters have made...  There are no fairy Godmothers but she does find three nuts that have gifts inside them when Cinderella opens them...  The best Cinderella adaptation ever. Brilliant color and with English subtitles. A Czechoslovakia/East Germany production.

It really should probably be in the westerns, but falls into Fantasy territory with the awesome sets and vibrant color. Brilliant picturesque locales. Get rid of those crappy prints! Still this is worth a look for it's bad movie entertainment value.  BA

S729 Gran Bollito (77) aka: Black Journal   Check this out! Shelly Winters again in a 'Mama from Hell' type of role. She plays a psychotic Italian matriarch with a penchant for murdering her neighbors and boiling their chopped up corpses to make soap. In a spirit to waste-not-want-not, she grinds up any bones that are left over to make biscuits for afternoon tea. All of her victims are spinsters played by men in drag, one of them being Max Von Sydow! There is a lot more going on here. Set in 1938, this is an incredible film, a must see if you enjoyed Winters in her other 70's exploitation/horror films. LBX and now with English Subs! BA

K692 Haunted School, The (07) aka: Hau mo chu  A ghost that is attacking and killing the pupils of a school that break the school rules! Being a strict girl-only school, no one broke the rules much (yeah, right!), but then 4 boys were brought in order to test the possibility that the school can be turned co-ed.... That really made the ghost angry!!  LBX and with English subtitles.

K729-K730 History of Horror, A (10) Unreleased in America. Three part examination on Horror films with your host Mark Gatiss, very well made with loads of extras, actual classic props and location visits (Hammer locations, Psycho locations etc.) and special guest stars. While it would be impossible to mention and explore every horror film and it's influence this does an admirable job of covering many of the very best from Universal, to Hammer (a must-have if you are a fan of Hammer!). Don't always agree with assessments made but a lot is dead on. Barbara Steele looks great still in her interview sequence. This is 3 hours on 2 discs. The second disc includes a radio documentary (audio only) on Michael Powell's 'Peeping Tom'. If you enjoyed the British documentary 'Legend of the Hammer Vampires' (which we also have and heartily recommend) then this is a must have! $20 DVD-R or $24 VHS- Counts as 2 selections on any specials.

S754 House of 7 Graves (82) aka: La casa de las siete tumbas  Two childhood friends have grown up and evolved differently regarding how they approach their fears.  The mystery has its roots in their childhood fears.  Debut director from Argentina Pedro Stocki uses this unsettling premise to construct his film and adds to it an old widow who hates cats, a mentally disabled girl and her love of pigs, a man whose behavior is truly strange and a disgusting pig eating scene... with gore and (slight) nudity!   In Spanish with English Subtitles! S776 Morke (05) The psychological thriller "Murk" tells the story of Jacob, who is investigating into the circumstances surrounding his sister's death on her wedding night.... S724 Night of the Clocks, The (07) aka: La nuit des horloges  One of the last films directed by Jean Rollin before his death in 2010. A young woman inherits a country house along with her cousin that harbors hauntings and characters that will affect their lives forever. Sexy women, lavish photography, plenty of nudity and loads of weird, gothic, bizarre imagery and set-pieces, bordering on the obscene, and teetering on the edge of extreme bad taste. Strangely enough if you are a Rollins fan, you may recognize some of his favorite locales revisited (tombs, crypts, decaying ancient structures), his theme of two women in a twisted suicidal relationship still going, and also some of the nightmarish visions are.. from earlier Rollins work! K626 Okatsu the Fugitive (69) aka: Yoen dokufuden: Okatsu kyojo tabi  Okatsu's (Junko Miyazono) parents are killed by a tobacco smuggling gangster. (After Florida increases the tobacco tax a dollar on top of the dollar increase in the federal tax, we may see more of these types).  The gang is after her because there is a Statement of Charges that her father hid. She engages in a couple of fights, but it a stranger that helps her when she is down and almost out... The gang comes after them both and, when they have them surrounded, just leave to fight another day. It seems no one really wants this Statement. 
The final battle had some excellent swordplay   LBX and with English subtitles.

Instead of getting any work done there, however, he becomes obsessed with the story of a beautiful and promiscuous 17-year-old girl who was mysteriously killed at the villa during WWII. The older locals (especially the men) are equally obsessed with the girl, and they all end up holding a bizarre séance. There is a corpse-dude in the car that vomits a snake, which ends up going down his throat! Later, a woman gags up a cobra. You may roll on the floor when you see the 'witchdoctor' of the title turn into a brown goat accompanied by intense orchestral sounds! A shriek-fest for sure! Some English but mostly Congo/African language... or something.

K795 Film Unfinished: Warsaw Ghetto, A (40's/10) aka: Shtikat Haarchion  After the end of WWII, four reels of film were discovered inside a vault in the German mountains. The film had no titles or credits, and was simply labeled The Ghetto. The unfinished silent film was an attempt by the German propaganda machine to paint an idyllic picture of life within the Warsaw Ghetto in 1942, where some 440,000 Polish Jews were crowded into a three-mile area while they awaited deportation. Carefully stage-managed scenes showed Jewish families living a life of luxury. This was contrasted with scenes showing poorer Jewish families living in absolute squalor, in overcrowded and filthy slums. Emaciated bodies lay on the streets. Dead bodies were bulldozed into mass graves. The point behind it all seems to have been to show that the Jews were heartless and willing to turn on their own in order to survive.... a powerful and moving indictment of this Nazi propaganda and its cruel lie..
